Terms of Service

1. Scope & Access

The Service is invite-only. Access requires a valid invitation code and registration of an account. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

We reserve the right to revoke access at any time without notice.

2. The Service

Cult of the Lamp provides an interactive experience combining worldbuilding lore, dream cartomancy (a custom card-based dream interpretation system), and AI-powered illumination of readings. The Service is offered for entertainment and personal reflection purposes.

3. AI-Generated Content

Illumination interpretations are generated by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude). These interpretations are:

• For entertainment and personal reflection only
• Not professional advice — not psychological, medical, therapeutic, spiritual, or any other form of professional guidance
• Generated content — they may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or nonsensical

You should not rely on AI-generated interpretations for making life decisions. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, please consult a qualified professional.

4. Illumination Credits

The Service provides 2 free AI illuminations per day. Additional illuminations can be purchased as credit packs:

• Ember Spark: 5 credits — $1.99 USD
• Flame Bearer: 15 credits — $4.99 USD
• Radiant Core: 35 credits — $9.99 USD

Credits are non-refundable once consumed (i.e., once an illumination has been generated). Unused credits do not expire. Payments are processed by Stripe.

We reserve the right to modify credit pricing and pack sizes. Existing purchased credits remain valid regardless of pricing changes.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create through the Service, including dream descriptions, reflections, and other text you write.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content as necessary to deliver the Service (including sending dream text to AI providers for interpretation and storing readings in our database).

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to manipulate AI systems through prompt injection or adversarial inputs
• Use the Service to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
• Share your invitation code without authorization
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or programmatically access the Service
• Impersonate other users or misuse accounts

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination.

7. Intellectual Property

All lore, worldbuilding content, card designs, artwork, and the Dream Cartomancy system are the intellectual property of the Service operator. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without explicit permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

In particular, we accept no liability for the accuracy, suitability, or effects of AI-generated interpretations. All AI outputs are entertainment content and should be treated as such.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Austria. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Austria.

Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you reside remain unaffected (Art. 6(2) Rome I Regulation).
